The Renewal of the Mind Part 5

The Tongue
Figuratively speaking, the tongue can be sharper than a two-edged sword (Psalm 64:3 who sharpen their tongues like swords, and aim their bitter words like arrows,) or (Psalm 140:3 They sharpen their tongues like a serpent; the venom of vipers is on their lips. Interlude.) A reference to its ability to utter caustic, poisonous words is like a bow.
The tongue can project lies (Jeremiah 9:3 hey use their tongues like a bow. Lies rather than truth fly throughout the land. They progress from one evil to another, and they don't know me," declares the LORD)
or like an arrow, can be shot out, striking down with its deceit Jeremiah 9:8 Their tongue is a deadly arrow that speaks deceit. With his mouth a person says, 'Peace,' to his friend, but inwardly he sets a trap for him.) the tongue can be used as a weapon to attack (Jeremiah 18:18 Then they said, "Come, let's make up a plot against Jeremiah. After all, the priest's instruction, the wise man's counsel, and the prophet's message won't be destroyed. So let's verbally attack him. Pay no attention to anything he says!") wounding like a sharp sword, (Psalm 57:4 I am surrounded by lions. I lie down with those who burn with fire—that is, with people whose teeth are like spears and arrows—whose tongues are like sharp swords.)
The tongue can be used viciously for flattery, back biting, deceit, unrestrained speech, lying, strife, cursing, destruction, and craftiness. People may use the tongue to sin, or to speak of the Lord’s righteousness and sing praises to Him. The tongue of the wise promotes health, of a righteous treasure, like the choice of silver (Proverbs 10:20 What the righteous person says is like precious silver; the thoughts of the wicked are compared to small things.) the Bible speaks of keeping the tongue from evil, of guarding the tongue, and of bridling the tongue (James 1:26 If anyone thinks that he is religious and does not bridle his tongue, but instead deceives himself, his religion is worthless.)

James 3:8-10 but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God. From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so.

It is an indication of what is in your body.

THE WORDS WE SPEAK

Concerning parents
Deuteronomy 5:16 “‘Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God commanded you, that your days may be long, and that it may go well with you in the land that the LORD your God is giving you.

What does honor mean
Matthew 15:4 For God commanded, ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘Whoever reviles father or mother must surely die.’

Over ourselves
• We can speak curses or blessings!
• A curse is being “empowered to fail.”
• A blessing is being “empowered to succeed.”

UNGODLY SOUL TIES AND CO-DEPENDENCY

What is an ungodly generational soul tie?
It is a sinful habit, and addictions which leaves us open to accidents and traumas. They are passed down, by example from parental environment, or family traditions from generation to generation and can affect the way that we think and feel.

What is generational co-dependency?
It is often seen in adult children, their parents, and grandparents.

These co-dependency characteristics are often passed down from generation to generation.

THE CODEPENDENCY OR CONTROL TRAP

What does the unhealthy codependent look like?
Rejection, feelings of loneliness, insecurity, looking elsewhere other than God, low self-esteem, low self-image, fear, and rebellion.
How do we feed codependency?
Flattery, financial, and material possessions are the major keys to this problem.

It is okay to fail if we fail forward and not go backwards.

The characteristics of being in a controlling co-dependent relationship is having on real interest in developing that two-way relationship.

Galatians 3:1-3 O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? It was before your eyes that Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified. Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh?

Our family bloodline has quite an involvement not only in the family but in the church as well as in the cults and non-Christian practices that go on all around us. They tend to not only dominate or try to dominate us, but they are a stronghold that comes from Satan and he does not want us to follow God. He uses the world to tempt us and to make as want what we cannot or should not have. He is sly and only comes to rob, kill, and destroy us so that we will be prevented from entering heaven.
We know better do we not.

Bondages & Strongholds that are from the generational bloodline
Bondages are areas of our life where we have an unhealthy dependence on a person, substances, or objects. This dependence becomes a strong hold that no matter how hard we try in our own strength to get out of it, it becomes too difficult to break. For example, we can become dependent of alcohol, drugs, overeating, dependent on others, sex nicotine, work, TV, games, and pornography. This way of thinking and behavior is passed down from generation to generation unless we stop it. We have the power through Jesus to stop this bondage from going any further. We must choose to stop it and build a better life for ourselves as well as our families.

The Bible tell us that we are not to judge as in Matthew 7:1-2 says,
Matthew 7:1-2 "Stop judging, so that you won't be judged, because the way that you judge others will be the way that you will be judged, and you will be evaluated by the standard with which you evaluate others.

THE SPIRIT, SOUL AND BODY
We recognize that we have a body and a soul, we do not think much about the spirit. That is because the body is visible and the soul is invisible, but the word of God does not divide us in that way. God divides us into three parts instead of just two, the spirit, body, and soul. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 tells us that God sanctified us with His peace.
1 Thessalonians 5:23 Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

God created us to have a body, a spirit, and a soul. So how does one distinguish the soul from the spirit? Since the soul and the spirit are divided or two separate entities, then the two must not be the same thing. God has given us the difference between the two.

Genesis 2:7 then the LORD God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.

Romans 8:16 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,

The word ‘life’ that is in this expression “bread of life” is chay (pronounced ka-chay); it is the plural in number; therefore, God’s breath produces two lives, a spiritual one and a soulish one. When God’s breath enters our bodies, it became our spirit. So, the day that you were conceived, God leaned down and breathed life into us just like He did to Adam so that we would become alive in Him.
